Lights, Camera, Action!!

Well the second installment for the 27th June!!! Yes the Las Vegas strip was graced with two of her Majesty's subjects this evening!! Having spent most of the day in the heat we chilled out for a couple of hours following our tour before heading South on Las Vegas Boulevard (aka the strip).

Our aim...Caesars palace and the Bellagio plus the MGM grand, New York New York, Paris etc etc you get the picture!

We left the hotel at half past 7, so the sun was setting to out right coating the strip and all its contents in a warm radiant glow which was quite spectacular.
Like any other city Las Vegas comes alive in the dark but this is something else. We can't express everything but our highlights have to be

The Bellagio fountain show - Kate fell in love with this,
as cool as it is in oceans 11...that is nothing compared to the real thing.

The Coca Cola shop - Chris' favorite part 'the biggest freaking bottle of Coca Cola in the world' he so says, dribbling!!
A shop dedicated to all things red bearing the Coca Cola label.

Paris, the Venetian and MGM Grand were all spectacular in their own right, New York New York, not as good as the real thing obviously but still amazing.

Being able to walk from Brooklyn Bridge into grand central station is quite surreal!! Caesars Palace

was a delight also, the whole hotel being designed around Rome, although my walking Rome guide informs me inside the detail is not correct the outside detail of the pantheon, Colosseum etc is rather good!!

So tomorrow we leave and our feeling on Vegas are mixed, 2 1/2 days is a little short for a first visit however perfect all the same, it allowed us to successfully enjoy the 2 best bits of Vegas the Grand canyon and the strip. It is a shame the stratosphere is in such a run down area however it is itself following the trend of the north strip, still the views are amazing especially watching the sun setting. The south end of the strip is a hive of activity into the night, although the shows such as the fountains of the Bellagio, treasure island and the mirage volcano stop at midnight the lights are on throughout the night which can surprisingly hurt your eyes!!! As photographer Christoph found out!!

You don't have to gamble to enjoy Vegas, but you can sleep all day and watch all night and you lose all sense of the ridiculous wealth here and just enjoy it for what it is....nothing but the present and constantly evolving.
